PhenomeBI module implements a unique and innovative algorithm for predicting hybrids performances. As a result, this module can increase the breeder’s chance of identifying parents’ combination with high potential to create a successful hybrid.
System prediction for parent lines to cross is received by analyzing all existing data, including performances of the parents and previous generations, previous hybrids, phenotypes scores, disease resistance results, and so on.
The user defines a trait profile consisting of the desired traits for the hybrids per each breeding program and lets the system scan and search the database for the best parent combinations to match that profile. Subsequently, the system issues a list of possible parent combinations and their calculated combining ability score. Combining ability is calculated for each parent and pair of parents based on their historical performances and a list of crosses with their expected trait results. Hereditary values from parents to hybrids are automatically calculated by the system (based on user-defined rules) for each potential hybrid. Additional tables with calculated results reflect how the system figured the data to reach these recommendations. Finally, the user makes an informed decision on whether or not to perform the cross.
